LET’S GO BEYOND THAT CLICHÉ

Let’s begin on something
With newness in the air
Let’s go beyond mere saying
That every day is a new day
Yes, it’s a new you every day
But aren’t you trapped
In a living that makes it
Nothing but a cliché
When was the last time?
When you had run wild,
Without calculations
The feeling so thrilled
As if it was the first blood
For you on the highway
With many first tastes
As you cruised along
When was the last sunrise?
That romantically called you,
For the next sunset
With love in the air
Be it a blue moon sky
Or a blazing sun’s gun
Let’s begin on something
As pure as the first quest
With heat of first adventure
Let’s go beyond that cliché
To reinvent you
To find ‘you’ you thought of
When platonic was the air
And sky was the flair
Listen to that call to go wild
It’s always there
Just look at it, anew
Put aside life’s ifs and buts
And follow your instinct
To make it your day
Beyond this borrowed life
Of words and beyond
For a new you
Who was always with you,
It’s just that,
You miscalculated him out..

2016..A YEAR COMES..

COLORES INFINITUM

Why do we celebrate events like a ‘new year day’ – in every calendar – when it doesn’t bring any qualitative change in life in practical terms? After all, if we don’t count exceptions, nothing much changes on a ‘tomorrow’ than what it is on a ‘today’.

Well, it’s symbolic and therefore is important.

It is always between ‘what is going to change from one calendar day to the next’ and ‘every day is a new day, a reservoir of hopes, a new opportunity to do, undo or redo things’.

And it is always better to go with the later one – every day is a new day and every day is a new ‘you’.

Welcome 2016. Adieu 2015.

Reflect on. Retrospect. Introspect. And look ahead.

To reflect on the days ahead. To recharge yourself. With this symbolic milestone.

A symbolic milestone that comes every year.

It is for you to look at it – so why won’t we do it in a positive, uplifting mode?

Yes, life is very unpredictable – and so are its difficulties – with moments that let you down – with letdowns that lock you in an inertia.

But pragmatism tells to always look ahead – at the point beyond that letdown. It is only you who can break the run of inertia in your life – it is only you who can win over the psychological entrapments that you have built around yourself.

Life’s experiences should tell us that there is no substitute, no alternative, but to fight back – when life is dragging you down. Kill those jinxes that work to darken your path.

After all, apart from your family, who else stands with you emotionally? Everyone else either has a fleeting attention to the problems you are facing or a ‘knack’ to exploit you more in your hours of crisis.

The sum total is – there is no one else but you who’ll stand for you – and there is no one else but your family that will stand for you.

So, rules of the games point in just one direction – stay along and against the odds you face while trying to live life the way you seek.

Days like January 1 or December 31, now a universal phenomenon, are important milestones to take stock of how the time has gone by so far – and how you need to look ahead – to measure your life so far – with an element of periodicity.

And a touch of celebration is always welcome in this exercise.

Adieu 2015. Welcome 2016.

2015 GOES BY..REFLECTING ON..

It is always between ‘what changes from one calendar day to the next’ and ‘every day is a new day, a reservoir of hopes, a new opportunity to do, undo or redo things’.

And it is always better to go with the later one – every day is a new day and every day is a new ‘you’.

Anyway, that was about migrating from one year to the next – here in this case, from December 31, 2015 to January 1, 2016.

So..what has been my account of the year?

Diversified. Challenging. With my share of highs and lows. With my problems and with my triumphs. Like it happens in every life.

The many things that I had thought to do this year – some of them I could do – some of them are works in progress – and some of them are in advanced stages of ideation – and some of them are in still pipeline – something that always happens – in every life – and I have learnt to enjoy it this way.

I successfully developed my personal website this year – which I treat as my web journal – and so far, I have been engaged with it looks and progress. I had taken the domain name last year but the development with a professional touch came this year – and it was in sync with what I had thought when I was beginning 2015.

While reflecting back on 2014 on December 31 last year, I had decided that I would devote more time to my books and would limit my online publishing activity to once a day. Now, when I am reflecting back on 2015, on a December 31 exactly one year later, I am already more than a post a day – so far 431 posts this year in 364 days with this December 31 yet to go.

2015 was the fourth consecutive year on my writing and publishing pledge when I could maintain the discipline of writing or creating something daily – something that I had begun on October 15, 2011 – though with a random thought – with no long terms goals – but with ‘every day’ convictions.

I still have no goals. My driver is the sense of satisfaction that I draw after creating something from discipline of doing it daily.

Yes, I regret that I could not work that much on my books as I had thought, but what is relieving is that I know that why I could not do so and that I would do something concrete with them in the days to come.

Like I have been doing with my writing and with my creativity, I could do all that I needed to – with diversity as the leitmotif – in articles, in essays, in poetry, in images, in quotes, in fiction.

All that I have been through in 2015 I cannot write here and I should not write here, but while moving to the next year with the symbolic importance of January 1 – of ‘newness and hope’ – I have no bad feeling about how 2015 passed – but good reasons to look ahead and positive energy to work further.

THEY EVEN COMPROMISE THEIR IMMEDIATE TOMORROW..

COLORES INFINITUM

This is being human, this is being natural.

Most of us all are like that.

And in any lifetime, there cannot be a uniform way to go along than this.

This is the most pragmatic way to look at human life in today’s context – the context that is not solely self-defined for most.

Yes, people define it so – in the name of living in present, not going too deep in the future – a future that cannot be assessed – and in order to do so, they even compromise their immediate tomorrow – that is eventually to become their next ‘today’.

And they are not wrong in the ‘worldly sense’. Yes, majority is thrown into the throes of a calculation of ‘then’ that they don’t have any mean to look at. And yes, majority tries to come out of it by correcting ‘today’.

And that is natural. And that is pragmatic.

What is not pragmatic is ‘not thinking about your immediate tomorrow’.

A ‘today’ draws its sanctity from your yesterdays (and past experience) and your immediate tomorrow. Your immediate tomorrow gives you the reason to make your today ‘as better as you can’. And your yesterday adds learned experiences to that.

We are what we feel about us today but the feeling has its construct drawn from yesterday and is reasoned on needs of your immediate tomorrow.

The past is always about learning and the immediate future is always about wisdom of that learning as interpreted in your today.

JUNE 21: INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY AND EXISTENTIALISM

International Yoga Day is on June 21, the day when Jean-Paul Sartre was born in Paris.

It may be a coincident but a day to celebrate the ancient Indian tradition that has become a global ‘good health element’ with time, is also a day when the world remembers the most influential mind behind ‘Existentialism’.

Yoga in India goes beyond its ‘routine physical exercise’ nature – the practice that took it to the western countries, starting with Swami Vivekananda in 1890s.

Yoga in India, and in some countries where beliefs born in India spread, especially Buddhism, is seen as complete discipline and is primarily associated with spirituality and meditation. It emphasizes on the holistic balance in every walk of life and is aimed at ensuring a sound mind in a healthy body.

Yoga is a discipline with a philosophy that builds individuals who are self-aware and at the same time are in harmony with their surroundings, maintaining spontaneously balanced relations with nature and living beings.

Existentialism, though with different definitions, concurs that man is free and ‘is responsible’ to determine what becomes of him – in the sense that he sees and interprets his life and events in his life – based on circumstances – for the quest to lead a life that is as per his ‘understanding’ – that corresponds to his definitions of morality and different circumstances of life – the definitions that are within the norms for a healthy mind and body – the definitions that take different hues with time.

Yoga can help an individual develop a healthy ‘existentialist’ perspective based on his ‘philosophy of necessity’. Yoga can help find that ‘missing element’ in every life.

And June 21 is around the corner.

TODAY, I WAS NOT IN TWO MINDS..

COLORES INFINITUM

There are ways to fight the ways of life.

Every life has problems. No life is without its own set.

Yes, nature, degree and frequency of problems affecting lives vary from life to life.

The majority of humanity has more of them but even the privileged ones are not without issues in their lives.

Yes, the way to approach the problems, if differs for from life to life, is also dependent on the class and is affected by the concerned equations of ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’.

One can face the problems of life by accepting their presence, reconciling with the situations of life while trying to find ways out or ways up.

Or one can refuse to reconcile the way life has become while trying to rebuild the life.

I met this rickshaw-puller again today. And while he was not in queue, with his rickshaw parked away, I preferred to go to him.

It was a similar ride to what I had on the other day – but on a positive, confident note. While walking to his rickshaw today, I was not in two minds, unlike the other day.

DON’T GO TOO DEEP INTO A TOMORROW THAT YOU CANNOT READ!

COLORES INFINITUM

Don’t go too deep into a future that cannot be assessed. Don’t try to read too much into the calculations of a then that is not now.

True, keeping thoughts of future away is difficult. Not looking beyond tomorrow is a psychological perseverance that needs practicing.

But, slowly, it dawns on you that it is not worth – staking your today for some distant tomorrows.

Try to focus on three days – yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Hinge yourself literally by your today. Every possibility of your existence lies in the moment you breathe your life for the next immediate one, trying to stay a healthy course.

Yesterday is a reflection that aligns with your thought process or you find a way to deal with.

With your today and yesterday, you deal with the real time.

A tomorrow that is within your perceivable thinking based on your today and yesterday is needed to make better out of your today.

But beyond this perceivable tomorrow lies a realm of calculations, assessments, aspirations and thoughts that are not hinged even on your immediate future that you can easily see based on your today.

While the routine of thoughts continue with its routine of going beyond even death, we are what we feel about us today and what we want to feel us about our perceivable tomorrow – based on what we felt about us yesterday.

You may have a goal for your life. You may set different sub-goals to reach to that supreme goal of your life, that you try to preserve at any cost. But the goalposts keep on changing. You keep on your moving goalposts based on your today.

An interference in this process of a tomorrow that you cannot perceive devoids you of this liberty of moving your goalposts – a must to remain on the path to your supreme goal.

Don’t go too deep into a tomorrow that you cannot read.

TIME FLIES..WELL YES..AS LIFE EVOLVES..

COLORES INFINITUM

Excerpts from a conversation with a close friend, a source of inspiration while randomly talking – thought to share it here 🙂

Time flies, yes we all know. And like most aspects of life, it elates, as well as pushes us to go for some deep retrospective thinking, taking stock of the hindsight, taking stock of the days gone by in the recent past. And it helps, in times, when rough days linger and you say time flies. It has the vitality to make you feel you weathered well the vibes of the hostile times. Life is always slogged with reflections – the personality and its other aspects of the prevailing times.

On turning philosophical – philosophy is a way to look at things with a leverage to look at them in your own way – giving you the leverage to scale the scope – for everything – in all realms – personal, metaphysical – hope, scope, score on the scale of time.

On philosophy detaches – that is a way to look at it, the way that has been famously philosophical about philosophy – but the beauty of philosophy is – it also allows you to develop your own philosophy giving you the liberty to work on your own ways and definitions to look at attachment and detachment – to feel about what may be the factors behind our feelings to feel so.

On taking away certain aspects like passion, persuasive instinct – well, what I think, the days keep on evolving and thus shaping – so, something that was this way causing something to happen this way may well be ‘something’ that way causing things to happen this way – and yet, we may see points of relevance.

Life has always been circum-navigational in its approach – and a more eventful life, with share of both, ups and downs, makes the evolution more in sync with you, makes it even more intense.

The God is within you and nowhere else – if one is willing to devolve in order to evolve – travelling from devolution to evolution. The unseen remains the unseen and yet you have to strive for it to be seen.

On we strive or we have to strive – it is both ways – we strive or we have to strive – even if we are forced not to strive – or even if we do not will to strive – because the circum-navigational passage of life makes it so – making us feel insecure in bouts – and striving comes in then – when it becomes a way where you are looking at some possible recourse – or for the ways to come across, to go over.

Striving as an endeavour in life – it is always there, right from the age we become able to take instructions and later on adding our thoughts to them and further later on when we devise our own instructions – it is just that the intensity of realization keeps on taking different hues – depending on which phase the life is in.

On following pre-designated plans – but then that is a way to look at if it is pre-designated – that is what it goes like, and it is natural to be so, even the diehard individualists and postmodernists come across the moments when they accept the elements of faith and destiny in the evolution of their thought-process, in shaping their continuum to live it on – that is being human, that is being natural – we all are like that. In any lifetime, there can never be a uniform way to go along.

We are what we feel about us today and what we want to feel us about tomorrow based on what we felt about us yesterday.

Beyond there lies our limit to think in definitive terms – to think in definitive terms where our thinking acquires elements of vagueness has undefined elements of time. A way to look at it is the consistent life discourse on our reflections on ‘need and want’. I try to focus on in real time – on three days – yesterday, today and tomorrow – while the routine of the thought-process continues with its routine of going beyond – even to the realms of death – and back.

THEY FOUND THEIR MUSIC OF THE MOMENT IN THE FALLING RAINDROPS..

They were moving from one place to other. One of them was driving and the other was looking outside.

They were not talking to each other. None of them questioned each other why they were mapping the city roads that late in the night when it was pouring incessantly.

Probably, rain was the reason that kept them hooked to the motion of their thoughts that found a continuum in the motion of their vehicle – from one street to other – from one road to other – from one landmark to other – from one pathway to other.

They understood each other and felt it was a mutually agreed thought to spend some ‘more’ time like that with no care to define that ‘more’.

They both found their points – and their music of the moment in the falling raindrops.

For the moment – they wanted to remain in those moments only.

The one who driving was in an ecstatic mood after a rewarding day and was looking to find the resonance of his elated mind in the nature’s music but in a ‘restrained, balanced and peaceful’ way – on a raining, enlightened night – something that he had come to feel during the drive so far.

His companion, the friend, was pensive after a long day that had not gone the way it should have. It didn’t matter anymore if it was expected or unexpected. He was looking out in the dark, with the flow interrupted with flashes from lightning and streetlights, to clear his mind of thoughts, to get onto the path of healing, hoping the raining night would be able to enlighten him to read the next.

The night was getting younger. And it was still raining.

DAYS DO CHANGE – NARENDRA MODI SHOWS US

Days do change – Narendra Modi is its most relevant example today.

The US played silly politics over granting him the US visa for over a decade, but now is eager to see him in Washington. Multiple invitations have already been extended including from Mr. Barack Obama.

And Modi’s routine and somewhat cold response is apt.

Branded communal by many Hindus and almost Muslims, Muslim umbrella organizations are sounding pragmatic about Modi now.

Days do change – and for good.

Be patient – be on the job – and remain on the job.

And always keep in mind while opinionating about others that ‘days do change’.

Always keep in mind before betraying someone that ‘tables do turn’.

Always keep in mind while manipulating and stereotyping someone that ‘time passes quickly’.

Days do change – and sometimes, very fast – the Narendra Modi surge reaffirms this.
